History
The Joint Research Unit in Environmental Acoustics (UMRAE) is created in 2018, by merging research groups in acoustics from IFSTTAR (Environmental Acoustics Laboratory - LAE) and from CEREMA (Acoustics Group of Strasbourg - GRACS). In view of long-standing close relationships between GRACS and LAE (Associate research team "Acoustics", many common research projects), in a context of significant change of the home institutions (creation of IFSTTAR on 1st January 2011 and of CEREMA on 1st January 2014), and with regard to the crucial noise issues in environment, LAE and GRACS have merged into a joint research laboratory IFSTTAR-CEREMA.
Structure and location
UMRAE is managed by Judicaël Picaut (Univ. Gustave Eiffel), in co-direction with David Ecotière (CEREMA). It is composed of permanent members (researchers, engineers, technical or administrative staff) and doctoral students.
UMRAE is located in three sites : Lyon-Bron, Nantes-Bouguenais and Strasbourg.
