Avec grande tristesse, nous avons appris le décès fin avril de notre ancien collègue Jean-François Hamet. Directeur de Recherche à l’INRETS dans l’équipe Acoustique qu’il a animée pendant toute sa carrière dans l’organisme, il a également assuré la direction du département Modélisation Mécanique et Acoustique (MMA) jusqu’à la création du Laboratoire Transport Environnement (LTE). Au cours de ses travaux de recherche, Jean-François a apporté des contributions essentielles aux connaissances dans le domaine de l’émission sonore et du bruit de roulement des véhicules routiers et ferroviaires, notamment pour la modélisation des phénomènes vibro-acoustiques à l’origine du bruit de contact pneumatique-chaussée. Ses publications font référence en la matière, parmi lesquelles celles liées aux propriétés acoustiques des revêtements routiers poreux. Internationalement reconnu, il a collaboré à de nombreux projets de recherche nationaux et européens, ainsi qu’aux groupes de normalisation français (AFNOR) et internationaux (ISO). Ses qualités scientifiques et humaines, sa motivation sans faille ont contribué de façon essentielle et participent encore au rayonnement de notre laboratoire. With great sadness, we learned of the death at the end of April of our former colleague Jean-François Hamet. He was Research Director at INRETS in the Acoustics team, which he led throughout his career in the institution. He also headed the Mechanical and Acoustic Modelling (MMA) department until the creation of the Transport and Environment Laboratory (LTE).In his research work, Jean-François has made essential contributions to knowledge in the field of noise emission and rolling noise from road and rail vehicles, in particular for the modelling of vibro-acoustic phenomena resulting from the interaction between tyres and road surfaces. His publications are a reference in the field, including those related to the acoustic properties of porous road surfaces. Internationally acknowledged, he has collaborated in many French and European research projects and in French (AFNOR) and international (ISO) standardisation groups.His scientific and human qualities as well as his unfailing motivation have contributed in an essential way and still participate in the influence of our laboratory. Our thoughts are with his family and relatives.
