A delegation of researchers and PhD students from UMRAE Strasbourg has just taken part in the ICBBM conference held in Vienna (Austria) from 21 to 23 June. This conference is held every 2 years and focuses on bio-based materials and their applications in the building field. For its fifth edition, the congress broke attendance records, with 255 participants.

Philippe Glé and Clément Piégay (UMRAE team from the BIOGEO Pole in Strasbourg), as well as Thomas Schatzmayr Welp Sa and Arthur Kouakou (PhD students supervised by the UMRAE) presented the latest work on the characterisation of Typha (TyCCAO project), the multiphysics modelling of bio-based aggregates (LOCABATI project) and the optimized vegetal wools for indoor comfort by coupling fire treatment with acoustic and hygrothermal performances (Thomas thesis).

The conference featured a wide range of discussions with numerous partners in France and abroad. They opened up promising opportunities for future collaboration on projects to develop new environmentally-friendly insulation solutions.
